Vasiliki Danilatou was born in Athens in 1971. She graduated the Medical School of the University of Crete in 1996. In 2001, she was award her PhD from the University of Crete. She completed Hematology specialty (two years in general pediatrics in the Venizelion Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, and four years in pediatric hematology / oncology at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete) and acquired the title of hematology specialist in 2005. During the hematology fellowship she has visited many hospitals in the U.S. (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance-Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Strong Memorial Hospital-Rochester, New York). In 2006-2007 she went as a fellow at Cancer Institute of New Jersey, New Brunswick in the U.S. in the financing of the Foundation of the Greek Society of Hematology. In 2008 she successfully passed the exams of certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLE) and acquired her title of international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). She has been recertified on 2013. From 2007 to 2010 she has worked as research associate at the Laboratory of post-genomic research, Institute of Molecular Biology and  Biotechnology, the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH), as well as a private practitioner and certified lactation consultant in Heraklion, Crete. It is the mother of three children, a 10-years-old boy who breastfed for 10 months, a 7-years-old girl who breastfed for 3 years and a 2.5-years-old girl who is currently breastfeeding.
